Growing food together, growing confidence
Growing for Life is a 6-week, hands-on, engaging program for young people with a diverse range of additional needs and their supervising adult. It is best suited to students 8 years old and above.
Each small group of participants is led by an experienced farm educator. Students will be able to work in a way that helps them to feel supported and comfortable, and to be part of our farm community.
School Excursions
What students take away:
- Skills around how to grow food, create healthy soil and compost
- Confidence, life skills, independence and social skills
- A passion for growing food at home
- Exposure to a range of vegetables and foods that support healthy eating choice

How Growing for Life Started
Growing for Life began in 2026 as a pilot: two 8-week programs here at Green Thumb Farm across Terms 2 and 3, fully funded by the Health and Wellbeing Community Grants 2026.
The feedback from our participants was amazing. So we decided to keep it growing, and Growing for Life is now a regular program at the farm. We would love you to be part of it.
