Growing Good at Green Thumb Farm
Making an Impact in our First Year
Green Thumb Farm is a pioneering model for an education-based community farm that connects and empowers people to grow and engage with seasonal and locally grown food.
Through hands-on learning and sustainable farming practices, the farm equips individuals and families with the skills and knowledge about growing and eating seasonal food. This empowerment fosters better food choices, enhances food security, and promotes improved health outcomes, particularly in the management and prevention of chronic diseases.
This model, with its focus on education and community involvement, can be replicated across Australia, particularly in vulnerable communities, to build resilience and ensure access to nutritious food for all.

Planting, Nurturing and Harvesting Seeds of Change
Three UNIQUE ways we make a difference:
- We fill a knowledge gap with many schools unable to provide opportunities for students to get hands on in a school garden, and provide students with outdoor learning opportunities to meet the Qld Curriculum.
- We provide an opportunity for people with disability to experience hands on work at the farm that gives them real opportunities to learn and participate in meaningful work.
- We have waitlists for families with children aged 0-5 years to participate in our Little Green Thumbs Programs. With more funding and support, we can offer more programs.
