Success Stories
Hear from some of our participants about their experiences at Green Thumb Farm
Improving relationship and social skills
Skill building and readiness to work
Learning skills and independence
Physical activity and being outdoors
“Coming to Green Thumb Farm weekly has seen growth in so many ways for these students who are in year 11. They have learnt skill specific things for leaving school, and in particular the social aspect is particularly enriching. Deb is excellent with the students. ”
“The benefits to the students is that they have come out of their shell and they have built routines. They know how to mulch, use a fork, and put it in the barrel. It is the repetitiveness of the task that brings them out of their shell and makes them want to come each week. ”
“Murchoch loves coming here. He enjoys being outdoors and today we are doing weeding. It is good for him to stay active and he enjoys coming here each week. Doing one job and helping him stay on task is our focus today. ”
In 2025, we are launching a dedicated school garden area which means if you are a Special School you can bring your class for regular visits over a term or we can develop a customised program for your school.
