Children's Activities at the Farm
Let us take care of the mud so you don't have to!
We believe that growing food is good for kids and parents. That's why we have programs that involve the whole family. Most of us at Green Thumb are parents too - which means we are in the ring with you when it comes to finding fun and engaging activities that get the kids outside and active.
Our kids farm programs are our way to make it easier for parents to give their kids more green, less screen.
*** Please note the changes for the Little Green Thumbs Program in Term 3. We have combined Mums & Bubs with the toddlers, and extended the length of the session, with a new start time of 9.30am.
Little Green Thumbs
When // Tuesdays 9.30 - 11.00am
A play based program for children from 0-5 years to engage with nature play and growing food.
This is a free activity for families which we can offer thanks to the sponsorship of the City of Moreton Bay, and the volunteers at Green Thumb Farm - donations are optional.
Term 4 runs from Tuesday 1st October - 3rd December (10 weeks)
Places fill up quickly - bookings essential.
Green Thumb Home-schoolers
When // Wednesday 9.30 - 12.00pm
We are not running a dedicated home=schooling program at the moment.
However, we have a number of home-schooling families who join us for our free Wednesday Farm Helper Program. It runs from 9.30-12 each Wednesday. It is an opportunity to work alongside us at the Farm while we do our regular jobs, meet new people, and learn about growing food through doing.
Children are welcome to join us as long as they are supervised by an adult at all times.
"Research shows that when children garden and grow their own fruits and vegetables,
they are more likely to snack on fruits and vegetables when they grow older."
“⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
People LOVED the activities! There was so much joy from both kids and adults. People were talking about the colours and the shapes of the garden produce and the veggies they liked to eat most. Most people who sat down to do one activity ended up doing both, and lots of parents joined in alongside their kids. People loved taking the little seed packets with them and also, they loved pinning up their artwork on the mural too. The general feeling was that of joy, buzzing creative energy, and a sense of community as everyone was making something together.”
“It was amazing having all ages participate -from grandparents doing the activities with their grandchildren, to all ages of school children. It was buzzing, and such a positive experience seeing the children engage with the natural produce from the Farm.

“It was really fun making things for the garden. I can't wait to eat my strawberries.”
